1. Your manuscript stays in your browser
When you drag and drop or paste a document into Proofmark, it is parsed entirely on your computer using JavaScript inside your browser tab. Prose cadence, readability metrics, and craft rules run locally with zero outbound network requests. We never upload, read, or store your manuscript.
2. What happens during source verification
If you choose to verify citations, only the specific reference strings and citing sentences you confirm are sent (capped at 1,000 characters per reference).
Our verification service fetches the destination web page to check that the cited source exists and supports your statement. The checked text passages are discarded during the same request and are never stored. We do not log citation sentences, and we do not use your text to train machine learning models.
3. Beta invitation list
If you sign up for the beta invitation list, we save your email address. We use it solely to confirm your request and to notify you when an invitation spot opens. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.
A copy of each request goes to [email protected] so that we can follow up with you.
To keep automated signups out, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. The Turnstile check loads only when you click into the email field, not when the page opens. It reads technical signals from your browser and connection, including your IP address, to tell a person from a bot. Cloudflare's privacy policy covers that check.
4. Cookies and trackers
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies. When you sign in to the application workbench, we use strictly necessary session cookies solely to maintain your authentication state.
5. Data storage and your rights
You have the right to request access to your personal data or ask for its deletion at any time under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and applicable international privacy standards.
Proofmark is created and operated by Pramod Prasanth in Basel, Switzerland.
